How to Select the Best Long Island Attorney for You

We don’t tend to talk about subjects like this all that often in our articles, because at the end of the day we’re trying to explore topics that push the conversation beyond what's normally discussed in attorney blog articles. But it does pay to address some of the basics like this in the event that our reader is an individual who wants to find the right attorney for them. We have a particular understanding of what it is that we think makes us different from our colleagues, and we would like to speak to what makes us unique here at Langella & Langella.

In an age where the legal profession seems to be trending more and more towards a corporate approach, we would like to think that we are carrying on a tradition which may be going out of style in today’s day and age. While all manner of technological implementations may make the process easier for a potential client, and the sheer mechanical efficiency of today’s large firms can make the process as clinical as a trip to the McDonald’s drive through, we sternly believe that the basics of good legal practice are still the most important aspect in choosing an attorney.

Every case that comes into our firm is handled by us, not legal assistants and paralegals. And that extends to making ourselves available to answer any and all of our clients’ questions. We make every effort to get to know our clients. We know what they do for work, their families, and their overall lifestyle.

The urge to make things more streamlined and impersonal isn’t something that we necessarily want to embrace, as the core effectiveness of an attorney-client relationship is always going to come back to how well an attorney understands their client and their needs. A good phone call or in person meeting is always going to yield better results than a sequence of emails. The intangibles of having a proper emotional understanding of what justice looks like to a client are critical, and they always will be.

Both of us here also value each other's opinion, and recognize the importance in working as a team. From the moment a client comes to our firm, we work together on the case and are always thinking of how to work to make the case “trial ready.” We have weekly and monthly file reviews and check-ins with each other and our clients.

We also have a wonderful staff of paralegals that are constantly assisting us in working on each case. Our paralegals assist our clients in everything from their no-fault benefits, treatment and medical records to lost wages and mileage reimbursements. And each member of our team is a local talent that we’re proud to support.

Our family is about as “New York” as it gets. And that undoubtedly informs the way we choose to address the needs of our clients. We like to believe that we implicitly understand their struggles and perspectives. By nature, it MUST affect how we conduct our practice. And the awareness of this is something we believe makes us ever more in tune with what justice looks like for the people we help.

Our method has been proven successful, in that we have recovered millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for our clients. We also know our method works in that over the many years of growing our firm, our clients come back to us for legal representation and notably refer their friends, family, and co-workers to us. Our former and current clients value and appreciate how hard we work to ensure that they are in the best possible position to maximize their case value and recover from their injuries. And of course, the best compliment we can receive is a referral.
